APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (AP) — Law enforcement officers in Dakota County are participating in a basketball tournament to raise funds for the family of a slain Cold Spring police officer.
Officer Tom Decker was gunned down Nov. 29 while responding to a call in Cold Spring. The investigation into his shooting is ongoing.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office says officers from throughout the county will participate in the tournament, which will be held on March 16 at the Apple Valley High School.
Members of the public are invited to attend. Admission is free, and those wishing to donate to Decker’s family can make a donation at the tournament.
Various banks in Cold Spring have also set up memorial funds to accept donations.
