ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — Kalle Kossila had two goals and an assist to help St. Cloud State hold off Michigan Tech 5-3 on Friday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
The WCHA-leading Huskies (20-12-1, 17-7-1) led 4-0 after Kossila’s goal with 59 seconds left in the second period. He added an insurance goal at 15:34 of the third.
With the win, St. Cloud State maintained a three-point lead over North Dakota in the race for the McNaughton Cup with three games left.
Ryan Faragher had 42 saves for St. Cloud State.
Milos Gordic, Aaron Pietila and David Johnstone scored in a span of five minutes of the third period to make a game of it.
Pheonix Copley made 32 saves for Michigan Tech (10-17-4, 6-15-4).
