MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Stephane Pattyn and Rocco Grimalsi scored in the third period as North Dakota beat Minn. St., Mankato 4-3 on Friday to keep alive its hopes for a share of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association title.
North Dakota (19-9-7, 14-6-0) and Minnesota trail St. Cloud State by two points with one game left in the race for the McNaughton Cup.
Grimaldi had a goal and an assists for fifth-ranked North Dakota. It improved to 19-1-1 in its last 21 games against MSUM (21-11-3, 15-11-1). UND has won nine straight against the Mavericks.
Carter Rowney added a goal and an assist, while Mark MacMillan had a goal. Zane Gothberg made 37 saves for North Dakota.
Eriah Hayes had a goal and assist for MSUM. Taylor Herndon and Teddy Blueger also had goals.
