MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Twins announced more roster moves Thursday morning as they continue into the heart of spring training down in Florida.
The Twins have optioned pitchers Kyle Gibson and Caleb Thielbar to their Class AAA minor league team in Rochester, New York. The move assures that Gibson, who is coming off Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery, will not begin the season in the team’s starting rotation.
Thielbar had been making strides as a relief pitcher, but it was decided he’s not ready for the major leagues yet. The Twins have also reassigned pitcher Anthony Slama, catcher Kyle Knudson and infielder James Beresford to the team’s minor league camp.
