Wisconsin Beats Minn.-Duluth 3-1 In Playoff Opener

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Mark Zengerle had a goal and two assists as Wisconsin beat Minnesota-Duluth 3-1 Friday in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.

Game two of the best-of-three series is Saturday.

Zengerle assisted on the Badgers' first two goals, including John Ramage's power-play score that put the Badgers ahead 2-1 at 15:31 of the second period.

Nic Kerdiles also scored for Wisconsin (18-12-7), which outshot Minnesota-Duluth 33-27.

Joel Rumpel made 26 saves for the Badgers.

Dan DeLisle scored for the Bulldogs (15-17-5), who got 30 saves from Aaron Crandall.

Wisconsin is 4-0 all-time against Minnesota-Duluth in first-round series in the WCHA playoffs.
