WOODBURY, Minn. (WCCO) – A car crashed through the front window of Dorothy Ann Bakery in Woodbury Saturday afternoon. About 50 people were inside for a wedding cake sampling event at the time of the accident.
Owner Steve Conway says the event was interrupted by what sounded like an explosion.
“The blinds were drawn to keep the sunlight off of the cakes; you know it gets a little warm when the sun comes in. We didn’t see it coming, and all of a sudden the windows burst open and the cakes went flying,” Conway said. “And we all kind of screamed and were startled, and thank goodness nobody was hurt.”
A customer was backing out of a spot when they accidentally put their car into drive and hit the gas. The front window is boarded up Saturday night, and the bakery will remain open during the rebuilding.
By pure coincidence, this is the third time a car has crashed into Conway’s bakery. The first two times were in its old location.
