MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 39-year-old Paynesville man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly assaulted and stabbed his girlfriend, according to police.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded Saturday to a report of an assault with a knife at about 3:30 a.m. A woman called authorities saying she had been stabbed and that the suspect had left the residence on foot.
Authorities found the suspect, Raymond Scott Hanson, walking on a road near where the incident occurred. They discovered he stab wound to his abdomen and was transported to a hospital. Authorities met with the victim, a 32-year-old woman, and discovered she had been stabbed in the back. She told police the man, whom she was in a relationship with, had stomped on her neck and further assaulted her.
The victim was transported to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Hanson was arrested for second-degree assault, domestic assault by strangulation and authorities are looking into possible murder charges. He is currently in the Stearns County Jail awaiting formal criminal charges.
