Day After Hoax, New Prague Receives Bomb Threat

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- With a community still reeling after a school shooting hoax, officials say New Prague Area Schools received a bomb threat Thursday, which forced student evacuations.

According to the school's website, "New Prague Area Schools has received notice of a bomb threat in the Middle School and the CEC building. All Middle School students are being evacuated to the ice arena. When the police give the okay students will be returned to the buildings."

A student from the middle school said they were evacuated around 8:30 a.m. As of about 9:50 a.m., the school was cleared of any threat and students were able to head back to class.

On Wednesday, a 12-year-old male student was taken into custody after allegedly making two prank calls, reporting a school shooting in progress with two injuries.

The student's calls prompted 12 surrounding agencies to respond to the school, including ambulance and medical personnel, and a mass evacuation of all students.
