MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of St. Thomas men’s basketball team pulled off a gritty win Friday afternoon in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Division III tournament, topping Williams 82-79 in Salem, Va.
The Tommies trailed the majority of the game, but thanks to Will DeBerg’s 20 points, Zach Riedeman’s 15, UST will play in Saturday night’s 6 p.m. national semifinal against either M. Hardin-Baylor or St. Mary’s.
St. Thomas (30-1) won the national championship (its first) back in 2011.
