Arrest Made In Deadly Mpls. Hit-&-Run; Suspect ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 24-year-old man has been arrested in the fatal hit-and-run death of a woman in Minneapolis Saturday, according to police.

On Saturday at 1:10 p.m., police responded to a Fremont and 21st Avenues North on a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident with injuries. When they arrived, medical and fire crews were already aiding a seriously injured woman.

The woman was taken to North Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, but she died as a result of these injuries.

After an initial investigation, police located the unoccupied suspected hit-and-run vehicle close to the accident scene. Soon after, sergeants identified the suspect as Perry Bernard Atkins.

After finding Atkins, he was brought to the Homicide Unit and questioned further.

Atkins was then arrested and booked for criminal vehicular homicide. He is currently at the Hennepin County Jail.
