Man Withdraws Substantial Amount Of Money, Goes Missing

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Cloquet Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a man who has been missing since January.

Police say John Edwin Bemis III dropped his 14-year-old daughter off at school on Jan. 8, renewed the registration on his motorcycle and left in his pickup truck.

Bemis, 37, withdrew a substantial amount of money before disappearing, according to authorities.

Two days before Bemis allegedly left town, his ex-wife Marie Majerle was arrested and charged with the attempted murder of her current husband. Bemis left Cloquet that day but came back on Jan. 8, according to police.

Bemis is not a suspect in the attempted homicide but is wanted for questioning in the incident. A nationwide warrant for child abandonment has also been issued for Bemis.

Police say Bemis is about 5-foot-11, 180 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen driving a red 2005 GMC Sierra pickup with MN Support Our Troops plates, with the number 130DH.

Anyone with information about Bemis' whereabouts is asked to contact the Cloquet Police Department at 218-879-5043 or call 911.
