MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said there were no serious injuries but three people had to be rescued after a fire at a Golden Valley private event space Friday morning.

Crews responded to The Metropolitan on the 5400 block of Wayzata Boulevard at about 3:30 a.m. on a report of a structure fire. When authorities arrived, smoke and fire were visible inside the building. Officials said it was contained to the kitchen area and set off four sprinkler heads. Officials with the Metropolitan said the fire was only in the kitchen and did not affect the private event space in any way. Business is on as normal.

Authorities didn’t say if anybody was inside the building at the time of the fire, but three people had to be rescued from a second floor apartment above the restaurant. Officials said the fire started in a laundry bag in the kitchen.
