Minnesota Bus Company To Pick Up Rimrock's Routes

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A Minnesota-based bus company says it is launching new routes within Montana after federal authorities shut down the company that had been operating those routes.

Jefferson Bus Lines Co. says it will begin daily routes starting Saturday that connect Billings and Missoula and it will extend its Fargo-to-Glendive run to Billings.

The announcement comes a week after U.S. Department of Transportation safety regulators shut down Rimrock Stages Inc. for safety violations, leaving passengers stranded and few options for people without vehicles to cross the state.

The federal agency said the company was an imminent hazard to the public.

Rimrocks took over the Billings-to-Missoula route from Greyhound in 2011.

Jefferson Bus Lines' website says the company operates in 13 states in the Midwest and the Northern Rocky Mountains.
