Family Remembers Bicyclist Killed In Mpls. Hit-&-Run

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A cyclist killed in a Minneapolis hit-and-run accident is being remembered for her sense of adventure.

On Sunday, Elyse Stern's loved ones placed flowers at the scene of the accident. A car hit the 28-year-old early Saturday morning at Lake Street and Cedar Avenue in Minneapolis.

She was not wearing a helmet and her bike didn't have a light.

Stern's family said she was very adventurous, loved to travel, was a free spirit and loved to bike. They also said she would always ride her bike on main streets because she felt safer with more street lights.

Police say the man who hit her, Juan Hernandez-Campoceco may have been drinking. He is behind bars and could face charges as early as tomorrow.
