Authorities Investigating Apparent Murder In Columbus

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are looking for a suspect after a body was found in a cul de sac Monday in the north metro town of Columbus.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office was called at about 9:30 p.m. Monday to the area of Camp 3 Road west of Zodiac Street NE in the city of Columbus on a report of body next to a vehicle. When authorities arrived, they found a body in a cul de sac and determined that foul play was involved.

Cmdr. Paul Sommer says the sheriff's office does not have any suspects at this time.

"We already know there are no witnesses," he said.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a murder. They say the victim, whose name has not yet been released, is a 50-year-old Asian man who was last known to live in St. Paul. It's not clear if the victim had any association with the neighborhood where he was found.

"We basically have to start with the deceased, and find out what his lifestyle is," Sommer said. "What would lead a man from St. Paul to be found dead in Columbus Township?"

The man's manner of death has yet to be released.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Anoka County Sheriff's Office at (763) 427-1212.
