Another Wintry Blast For Northwestern Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE (AP) — More than a foot of new snow in northwestern Wisconsin is making travel tough and has closed numerous school districts.

The National Weather Service says the wintry spring storm is moving out of the region Friday, but not before dropping 18 inches of snow in Hawthorne, 17 inches in Poplar and 16 inches in Washburn.

Among the school districts closed Friday are Ashland, Bayfield, Hurley and Superior. The Red Cliff tribal offices are closed as well.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 16-year-old Jonathon Pohlen of Houlton, Wis., was killed Thursday afternoon when he lost control on snowy Interstate 94 in eastern Minnesota, crossed over the median and collided with a truck's trailer.
