Palmer Indicted For 1st-Degree Murder of St. Paul Woman

ANOKA, Minn. (WCCO) – An Anoka County grand jury indicted a 23-year-old man for the first-degree murder of a St. Paul woman who was found in a Columbia Heights impound lot in February.

According to the Anoka County Attorney's office, Alberto Prece Palmer was initially charged with second-degree murder on March 8, and made his first appearance on first-degree charges Monday.

Palmer killed 18-year-old Brittany Clardy on Feb. 11, and left her body in a car which was eventually towed away. He has several outstanding warrants in Georgia for assault and kidnapping.

Anoka County Attorney Tony Palumbo says he stands behind the change in the charge against Palmer.

"This was a horrible crime and we feel the evidence supports a first degree murder charge," Palumbo said.

Palmer's bail remains at $2 million. He will appear again in court on June 27.
