The Minnesota State Patrol said a 2009 Chevy Suburban was traveling southbound on Highway 10 when it left the roadway to the right side and struck a road approach.

The vehicle went airborne, lost control, turned to its left and hit a tree on the passenger side. A passenger in the rear seat of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The Minnesota State Patrol identified the victim as 13-year-old Ellie C. Sovada of St. Cloud. A 12-year-old girl and a 59-yea-old man, both of St. Cloud, suffered serious injuries in the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating what led up to the crash, but said alcohol was not a factor and all three were wearing their seatbelts.
