ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – A 66-year-old St. Paul woman is in the hospital and her 32-year-old son is in custody after an early morning shooting, according to police.

At 4:52 a.m., St. Paul Police responded the 400 block of Robie Street East on the report of a woman shot in her home.

There, police discovered the female victim, identified as Ester Munoz Richards, who was suffering an apparent gunshot wound. Her son, Ryan James Richards, also of St. Paul, was also on scene.

Ester Richards was then transported to Regions Hospital. Police say they are working with the hospital to determine her condition, but she was conscious as of 10:27 a.m.

Ryan Richards was booked at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center for aggravated assault. Police are not looking for any other people at this time.

Police are investigating what led up to the shooting.
