Diana Ross To Perform For One Night Only At Orpheum

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Fans of classic R&B will soon be able to reach out and touch a certain somebody's hand (or close enough anyway) when Diana Ross comes to the Twin Cities to perform for one night only later this summer.

The Hennepin Theater Trust announced the one-time Motown hit machine who headed up The Supremes before embarking on a successful solo career will be performing Wednesday, August 28 at the Orpheum Theatre.

Ross racked up an impressive string of #1 hits both with the Supremes in the 1960s ("Stop! In The Name of Love," "Baby Love," "Love Child" and "Someday We'll Be Together") and by herself beyond ("Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Love Hangover," "Touch Me In The Morning," "Upside Down").

Ross has earned an Oscar nomination for her performance as Billie Holiday in 1972's Lady Sings the Blues, a Tony Award for her one-woman show "An Evening with Diana Ross," and has been given a lifetime achievement Grammy Award.

Tickets for the concert go on sale on May 10 at 10 a.m. Tickets will go for $85 and $45, and a limited number of Gold Circle tickets will be available for $129.
