Whoopi Goldberg To Join Guthrie Anniversary Gala

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Oscar-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg has joined the artist lineup for the Guthrie Theater's 50th anniversary celebration.

Goldberg will appear in "BEHOLD: A Gala Performance" on June 22. It's Goldberg's first time back on the Guthrie stage since her five-night engagement in May 1988.

Goldberg is among rare performers who have won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony award. Her stage credits include Broadway productions of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" and the title role in "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom."

Actors Daniel Gerroll and Patricia Kalember also have been added to the gala's lineup. Gerroll last appeared at the Guthrie in Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" in 2011. Kalember is a stage actress best known for her TV roles in "thirtysomething" and "Sisters."
