Hearing Set For Man In Alleged Minn. Terror Plot

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- A detention hearing is scheduled for a man arrested in what the FBI is calling a thwarted terror plot in western Minnesota.

Twenty-four-year-old Buford Rogers of Montevideo is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in St. Paul on Wednesday afternoon. Rogers is charged with one count of illegally possessing a firearm, and was in custody pending a formal detention hearing.

He was arrested Friday after law enforcement searched a mobile home in Montevideo and found a cache of explosives and weapons. The FBI says it stopped a terror attack that was in its planning stages, and potentially saved the lives of several Montevideo residents.

Rogers has a prior felony burglary conviction so is not allowed to have a gun.

His father has said his son is not a terrorist.
