MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It’s Thursday, and that means it’s time to start planning some weekend fun! It will be a busy few days, too. Saturday is the fishing opener and Sunday is Mother’s Day. Here are your best bets for the weekend.

Omnifest
The Science Museum’s popular giant screen film festival is back and starts Saturday. Omnifest will feature classics like “Tornado Alley” and Jane Goodall’s “Wild Chimpanzees.” All films air on a 90-foot domed screen through June 20.

Valleyfair
Valleyfair also opens this weekend. The season starts Saturday with more than 75 rides, a water park, Planet Snoopy and the new Dinosaurs Alive. You can experience the sights and sounds of more than 30 life-sized animated dinosaurs.

Como Conservatory: Mother’s Day Bonsai Show
Still looking for Mother’s Day plans? Head to the Como Zoo conservatory Saturday and Sunday for the Mother’s Day Weekend Bonsai Show. It’s an opportunity to see privately-owned bonsai in the Conservatory’s brand new bonsai home, The Ordway Gardens.
