Depot Minneapolis Hosting Wine Fest For Charity

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you're looking to have a glass of wine and raise money for a good cause, the Depot in Minneapolis is the spot for you Friday night.

Wine Fest is an annual tradition that's been going on for 17 years, and it's a fundraiser for the University of Minnesota's Amplatz Children's Hospital. Since 1995, this food and wine sampling event has raised more than $10 million to advance pediatric research.

Tickets are $100, and they'll be trying to set a Guinness world record for the most people uncorking wine simultaneously. The previous record was set in 2012 by a hotel management school, with 362 people.

Wine Fest organizers are hoping to break that record with 500 people involved. They're asking tonight's attendees to come prepared to uncork a bottle of wine in 30 seconds. The event starts at 5:15 p.m. at the Depot in Minneapolis.
