MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – If you’re going to be out on the town Friday night, you’re urged to plan for having a sober ride.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is enforcing its largest-ever crack down on drunk driving Friday night into Saturday morning. Authorities said they plan to have 150 squad cars on the streets throughout the Twin Cities metro, looking for impaired drivers.

Public safety officials said drunk driving accounts for about a third of fatal crashes in Minnesota. Authorities said up to 30,000 people are arrested for DWI each year. So again, you’re urged to plan ahead and have a sober ride home.
