MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Bacon is not just for breakfast anymore.
People make everything from bacon wontons, to bacon bourbon, to even bacon candy bits.
Chris Newberry likes to combine the sweet with the salty. On Saturday, he and 19 other chefs will use their skills in the kitchen to show off their bacon creations.
Host Matt Timms says chefs have free reign to do whatever they want.
“They’re making chocolate bacon, and bacon cupcakes,” Timms said. “It’s kind of mind blowing how people are using it.”
Newberry hopes to be a big winner.
“They’re fighting for a huge supply of Hormel black label bacon,” Timms said.
The competition runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Fine Line. It’s $15 to get in.
