Fans Eagerly Await Vikings Stadium Design Debut

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - After months and year of wondering, Vikings fans will finally know what the new Vikings Stadium will look like Monday night.

The wish list of what it could, or should, look like has been growing. Some of the Purple's most die-hard fans will find out in person.

The Vikings will make the big reveal outside the Guthrie Theater, where lots of excitement and lots of opinions about features of the new design will follow.

Since 10 a.m. Monday morning, Larry Spooner and others connected to the Vikings World Order stood in line to make sure they were in the house when the new design for the stadium is revealed.

"A very magical day. We're going to have the greatest stadium on planet earth," Spooner said. "I think they're going to blow us away. I really do."

The anticipation is incredible, and many fans are speaking about how the new design needs to make sure it is truly "the people's stadium."

"No idea what is going to be like, but I have a feeling we're going to feel like we're outdoors even if we're indoors with this new facility," Spooner said.

Larry says he would like to see the new stadium have some sort of retractable roof. Fans having lunch at Hubert's across the street from the dome agree.

Others are looking for a design that stands out enough to make the new stadium a destination for all.

"This is like we're in the Super Bowl, we know we've already won the game," Spooner said. "It's how the game is going to go, it's going to go our way today."

Fans tell WCCO they hope the design includes a large area near the stadium that is tail-gate friendly.

The Sports Authority Commission has been keeping quiet about the details of the design. All they would say Monday about the announcement is "it will be great."
