Wisconsin Woman Killed In St. Croix Co. Car Crash

HUDSON, Wis. (WCCO) – A 74-year-old woman was killed in a car accident in St. Croix County, Wis. on Monday afternoon.

According to the St. Croix County Sheriff's office, 74-year-old Darlene Breault of Houlton, Wis. was struck on the driver's side of her 2001 Hyundai Accent while leaving a parking lot In Houlton.

Becky Lee Markfort, 27, was traveling northbound on STH 35/64 in a 2004 Mazda Tribute when she struck Breault. The parking lot was controlled by a stop sign.

Breault was pronounced dead at the scene.

Markfort, from New Richmond, was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with unknown injuries. Her passenger, 25-year-old Michelle Frazee, suffered minor neck injuries.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts, and airbags were deployed in both cars.

The crash is currently under investigation.
