Plymouth Man Gets Probation For Impeding Prosecutor
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A Minnesota man has been sentenced to one year of probation for obstructing a federal prosecutor in Iowa after his son was sent to prison in an animal terrorism case.
Timothy DeMuth of Plymouth was also fined $2,000 during his sentencing Thursday at the federal courthouse in Davenport.
It's the same courthouse where his son, Scott, was ordered to prison for his role a 2006 raid in which activists freed ferrets from a Minnesota breeding farm. Prosecutors dropped charges alleging Scott was involved in a separate attack at the University of Iowa.
After his son's 2011 sentencing, Timothy DeMuth was furious that his son was imprisoned immediately, rather than allowed to surrender later. Timothy DeMuth bumped shoulders with assistant U.S. Attorney Clifford Cronk, then blocked him from exiting the courtroom.
