Authorities: Child, 3, Found Safe After Wandering Off With Dog

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – There were some tense moments in a western Wisconsin neighborhood on Wednesday after authorities said a child wandered away from home with his dog.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a missing 3-year-old boy from a residence in rural Elmood, Wis., at about 12:44 p.m. Wednesday. When authorities arrived, they learned that the boy had wandered away from the residence with his Black Lab dog.

Police said a little more than an hour later, the boy was found unharmed a short distance from the residence walking in a picked corn field with the dog. Authorities transported the boy and his dog back to his residence, where he was reunite with his parents.

The Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Pierce County Sheriff's Office at the scene.
