MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Cronuts -- the new "it" food is debuting in Minneapolis.

The newest pastry sensation has made its way into the Twin Cities.

Cronuts are the perfectly blended treat that combines croissants and donuts. While they look like an ordinary glazed donut, the cronuts taste buttery like a croissant, but have a richer, more decadent flavor.

They're all the rage in New York, some are sell for $5 to $20 a piece.

The confectionery geniuses at Angel Food Bakery heard about them last week and quickly got to work. On Friday, in honor of National Donut Day, the bakery debuted the treat in Minneapolis. Within 10 minutes, the couple dozen they had set out were sold.

For now, the cronuts are available in limited batches. That's because the dough is hand rolled.

Angel Food Bakery has ordered a special dough roller from Sweden. When it arrives next week, the bakery said it'll have them readily available.

The Angel Food Bakery cronuts are $4.50 each. The bakery requests a 48-hour notice for large orders.

Donuts run $1 to $3.50 at the bakery.
