Open Up The Door Because It's National Get Outside Day
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The weather has not been ideal for enjoying the outdoors the last couple of weeks, but Saturday is National Get Outside today.
All of the state's 74 state parks are free today. Cortland Nelson with the DNR said a special event's planned at Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis to encourage inner city kids to spend more time outside.
"We've got canoe training, we have fly-fishing workshops, we've got a two-wheel tour at Gateway State Trail out of North St Paul," Nelson said.
Nelson said every state park has opportunities for weekend recreation.
"You can get a feel for anyone of our parks, and what the terrain is like, and get some questions answered for yourself," he said.
