ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Twin Cities Public Television will air programs this month examining the dramatic rise in heroin and prescription opiate abuse in Minnesota.

“Heroin at Home” is a two-part documentary produced by tpt and the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

The documentary premieres at 9 p.m. Tuesday on TPT 2, Channel 2.1.  The first half-hour looks at the history and science of opiate addiction and heroin’s resurgence. The second half-hour covers treatment for heroin use and features first-hand accounts from those in recovery.

Next week, TPT political reporter Mary Lahammer will host a town hall forum on the subject. “Heroin at Home: A Community Discussion” will broadcast live at 8 p.m. June 18 from the tpt studios on TPT MN, Channel 2.2.
