Timberwolves To Face Boston In NBA Canada Series

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) – The NBA announced Tuesday the Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Boston Celtics in a preseason game in Quebec, Montreal, as part of the NBA Canada series.

The Timberwolves will be the visiting team when they face the Celtics on Oct. 20.

The Wolves have been at the forefront of the influx of international players into the NBA in recent years with the likes of Ricky Rubio, Nikola Pekovic, Andrei Kirilenko and J.J. Barea.

The Celtics have a history of playing outside the United States. They played in Turkey and Italy last year and in 2007. They went to Spain in 1988.

Minnesota competed in the NBA Canada series last season, beating the Detroit Pistons 95-76 in Winnipeg last October. The Timberwolves have also played international preseason games in the Dominican Republic, Istanbul and London.
