Meet Clete Thomas: The Twins' Surprise Hero

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Clete Thomas was the Twins' hero on Wednesday night.

He made his big league debut in 2008 and was then out of the majors for a few years. He had been 1-for-13 in his first five games with the Twins this season.

But Thomas went crazy for the Twins against the Phillies.

Cheers of "Clete, Clete, Clete" rang through Target Field as the 28-year-old had a career-high 4-for-4 game, with a pair of RBI doubles, one of which tied the game in the eighth.

He also scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.

Injuries to Wilkin Ramirez and Aaron Hicks gave Thomas this chance, and he'll likely be relegated back to reserve duty once they're healthy again.

Unless he stays this hot.
