MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Joey Hyde pitched a complete game to guide the Kasson-Mantorville Komets to an 8-1 victory over the Perham Yellowjackets in the Class 2A state championship at Target Field on Monday.

Hyde scattered five singles over seven innings while striking out five, letting in the lone run in the second.

Nine different players had at least one hit for the Komets (25-6), who scored three times in the first inning and three more in the fourth to win their first baseball title. Riley Donovan had two runs and two RBIs, and Wade Starkey hit an RBI double.

The Komets previously appeared at state in 2005 and 2011.
