1 Dead In Overnight Crash In Coon Rapids

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said one person was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Coon Rapids after a car struck a cement wall.

Coon Rapids Police responded to the crash at about 2:50 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Highway 10 near Foley Boulevard. When authorities arrived, they found a vehicle with severe front end damage that had hit a cement wall under Highway 10 at the Highway 47 split.

Police said the driver, who was the only person inside the car at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the driver was a 47-year-old man from Shoreview, but have not released the victim's name at this time pending notification of his family.

Authorities are still investigating what led up to the crash. Coon Rapids Police are investigating with assistance from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
