Pine River Man Dies In Crow Wing Co. Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 34-year-old Pine River man is dead after a single car crash in Crow Wing County early Sunday morning, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.

At 4:33 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a single car crash fatality on Goldenstein Road north of County Road 1 in Manhattan Beach.

The Sheriff's Office says the crash, which was difficult to see from the roadway due to trees and brush, appeared to have occurred during the late night or early morning hours.

The crash was discovered by a passing motorist who noticed tire tracks leaving the roadway and entering into a farm field.

The victim, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, was the only occupant in the car and was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. He has been identified as Carl Stromberg.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the Stromberg's body has been sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death.
