Man Arrested In 5 Cab Robberies In 2 Days

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police have arrested a man in connection with five robberies of cab drivers over a two-day period.

Authorities say Tonio James Weaver was arrested at a residence on the 5100 block of Knox Avenue North Wednesday morning.

Weaver was suspected in five knife-point robberies of cab drivers from around 4:30 a.m. on June 18 to 7:15 a.m. on June 20.

Weaver is accused of robbing two Red and White cabs, a Blue and White cab, a New Star Taxi driver and a Yellow Taxi.

The investigation continues. The cases will be presented to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office for possible charges.
