MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Gastronomic adventurists and fans of all things deep fried have a number of new reasons to rejoice this year. The Minnesota State Fair has announced a line-up of almost 50 new food items to debut at the 2013 event.

Fair officials say that total brings the overall tally to more than 450 different taste sensations available for the sampling at the Great Minnesota Get-Together.

Among the items that are set to debut during the fair are savory options like bacon-wrapped grilled shrimp-on-a-stick, a breakfast sausage corndog, Kramarczuk chop dogs, and lobster mac and cheese.

There are also plenty of sweet desserts to try as well, including Mini Donut Batter Crunch ice cream, PB&J malts and sundaes, a candied bacon cannoli, and a grilled glazed donut.

And, of course, the list wouldn't be complete without some new deep fried options, among them deep fried pickles with chocolate, deep fried Minnepumpkin Pie, wine-glazed deep fried meatloaf, and deep fried bread pudding bites.

Finally, for those who like exploring some weird science with their comestibles, there are items like Comet Corn -- a caramel corn made with liquid nitrogen -- and bizarre combinations like the Cocoa Cheese Bites, which combine Wisconsin cheddar and a breading made from Cocoa Puffs cereal.

You can see the entire list here.
