MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to terms on a three-year, $16 million deal with free agent swingman Chase Budinger.

A person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press that the two sides came to agreement on Tuesday. The deal includes a player option for the final year. The person requested anonymity because an official announcement has not been made.

Budinger averaged 9.4 points and shot 32 percent from 3-point range in 23 games last season. He missed much of the season with a knee injury, but Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman and new President Flip Saunders made getting Budinger back to Minnesota one of the team’s top priorities.

Yahoo! Sports first reported the agreement, which cannot be officially signed until July 10.
