MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The man who was shot and killed in a shooting on the Fourth of July has been identified.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said 26-year-old Muhyadin Mohamud Farah died of a gunshot wound to the chest on Thursday.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. inside an apartment building on the 3000 block of Grand Avenue South.

Police say Farah was found on the scene suffering from a gunshot wound. Crews tried to perform CPR, but he died at the scene.

Police don’t believe the shooting was random and do not have anyone in custody yet. They are investigating his death as a homicide.
