Human Remains Found Along Eau Claire, Wis. River

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Human remains have been found along the Eau Claire, Wis. river, according to authorities.

Eau Claire deputies were notified that kayakers found a bone, which appeared to be a human bone, along the Eau Claire River, west of Big Falls around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Eau Claire County Medical Examiner collected two bones along with some clothing material that resembled a waist band.

Photos of the bones were sent to an anthropologist in Dane County, where they were confirmed to be a human pelvis and vertebra bone.

On Wednesday, the human bones and the other items were transported to the Dane County Medical Examiner's office to be examined.

The family of a drowning victim from 2001, that was never located, has been notified of the discovery.
