Camden’s Concert has raised more than $100,000 for CF research. Concert namesake Camden Mona, son of Kirk and Chelsey and only grandchild to Dave and Linda Mona and Robert and Gail Carter, was diagnosed at birth in 2007 with CF. Fortunately, this curious five-year-old has been extremely healthy to date and will enter kindergarten this fall. CF does not define Camden, but it shapes his day-to-day life. Camden begins and ends his day with a regimen of nebulized drugs and percussive vest sessions and happily swallows multiple enzyme pills with every meal to help him metabolize his food. Each and every drug therapy Camden uses is a breakthrough helping him live a healthy life. Camden loves music and has a penchant for the guitar and mandolin, so it is only fitting to use music to help raise money to find a cure.
Grammy Award-winner Kathy Mattea, an American country music and bluegrass performer with an unmistakable voice, is the 2013 featured performer for Camden’s Concert. With a career spanning more than two decades, Mattea is known as an impeccable song-catcher whose music has spoken to millions. Born and raised in West Virginia, Mattea landed a deal with Mercury Records in 1983 on the strength of her demo tape. Since then she has recorded 17 albums and has charted more than 30 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts and received multiple CMA, ACM and Grammy Awards.
