'Frankenstein Rabbit' Galvanizes Mankato Residents

MANKATO, Minn. (AP/WCCO) -- A Mankato college student's spoof video of an apparently tumorous rabbit that he dubbed Frankenstein has attracted hundreds of thousands of Internet viewers.

Gunnar Boettcher and his brother put together the video after seeing the rabbit, which seems to have tumors on his head, on June 26.

In it the video, entitled "The World's Scariest Rabbit," Boettcher speaks in an Australian accent, imitating the late crocodile hunter Steve Irwin.

The Free Press of Mankato reports Boettcher put it on Facebook and then one of his friends put it on Reddit, a popular website for posting videos. Within four days, more than 200,000 people had watched it with almost 2,000 comments.

Some said the 12-horned bunny must be the mythical "jackelope."

The 20-year-old last saw it Wednesday night. He thinks it might have a form of papilloma virus that's highly contagious.
