Researchers: The Twin Cities Metro Growing
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- New numbers out Thursday show the Twin Cities metro area is growing.
The number of people in the metro topped 2.9 million in 2012. Since the 2010 census, the population has grown by about 59,000.
Minneapolis saw the largest growth followed by St. Paul and Blaine.
That's in line with a national trend that shows more people are living in larger cities.
Researchers at the Metropolitan Council say the growing population is due to people living longer, more young adults staying in the area, and an uptick in people moving into Minnesota.
