2 Skydivers Rescued From Lake Superior

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two skydivers had to be rescued after they landed off the shore of Lake Superior Saturday, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

At 4:20 p.m., authorities responded to the 4500 block of Minnesota Avenue, near the Park Point Beach House, on the report of two skydivers that had landed approximately 3/8 of a mile off shore in Lake Superior.

Authorities say one of the skydivers had landed approximately 200 yards from shore and was brought to shore by someone in a flotation device.

Another skydiver, who landed "quite a bit further," was shuttled to shore by a float plane, according to authorities.

The two were uninjured.

Authorities say the 29-year-old man and 33-year-old woman had been jumping with a group from Superior Sky Dive and had intended to land on land near the harbor side of the Park Point Beach House, but had left the plane too early.
