FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Authorities say a 26-year-old North Dakota man has drowned in a water-filled pit in western Minnesota.

The Clay County sheriff’s office identifies the victim as Joel Berge of Fargo, N.D. He had been swimming with friends Thursday night near Felton.

KFGO-AM reports the water in some spots is believed to be 90 to 100 feet deep.

The property is owned by the Department of Natural Resources and is open to the public.
