Post Office Worker Killed ID'd, Death Ruled Accident

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A postal worker who was hit and killed in a June 18 incident at the Brooklyn Center Post Office has been identified.

Authorities said officers were called around 7:25 a.m. to the post office located at 6845 Lee Ave. in Brooklyn Center.

Upon arrival, they were directed to the loading dock area where the accident occurred.

Police said a postal employee was backing their truck up to the loading dock when it struck another employee who was on foot.

The postal worker that was struck died from his injuries.

On Thursday, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified him as 58-year-old Leo Michael Brandt of Brooklyn Park. His manner of death was ruled an accident, caused by multiple blunt force injuries after being hit by a mail truck.
