Missing Iowa Border Collie Found Stuck In Tree

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) -- Laddy, a 7-year-old border collie who was missing for two days, has been found two blocks from his Iowa home -- stuck up a tree.

According to a report in the Quad-City Times, Ron Stevenson was working in the yard of his Davenport home Sunday morning when he heard a dog whining. He followed the sound along his driveway and looked up to see a dog at least 10 feet up in the tree.

Stevenson retrieved the dog. A police officer who responded to his 911 call had seen fliers and knew where the dog lived.

After their reunion, Laddy's owner Cynthia Weeks said the dog probably was chasing a squirrel.

Stevenson says Laddy maybe ran up the oak's gradually sloping trunk but then became too scared to run back down.

Davenport is among the Quad Cities near the eastern border of Iowa.
